Glen Iris Primary School celebrating 150 years
Wednesday, 03 June 2015 13:59

The Wesleyan Chapel at 200 Glen Iris Road was the first place of Christian worship, the first public school and the first community meeting place in Glen Iris. An application for State Government aid for rural schooling, signed by the Wesleyan Minister and others, was made in August 1865, just two months after the church opened, and stated there would be free use of the Chapel. For more information see history.glenirisuniting.org.au. In 1872 the school moved into its new building next door to the Chapel. From August 25th to September 1st 2015 Glen Iris Primary School will celebrate 150 years of quality education to the children of Glen Iris and surrounds. All past students and families are encouraged to participate in the wonderful programs being presented during that week. For further details see www.gips.vic.edu.au

Welcome 2015
Friday, 30 January 2015 14:50

The new year at Glen Iris Road Uniting Church and Community Centre is underway. The kindergarten and the many programs held in the Centre have begun and details of these can be viewed on this website. We also extend a very warm welcome back to the Glen Iris Primary School community who share our facilities. If you are interested in exploring the possibility of running a program in the Centre please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you to the hundreds of people, big and small, from Glen Iris Primary School, the Kindergarten and the local community who contributed food, toys and money to our December Camcare collection. These were conveyed to Camcare Ashburton for distribution and undoubtedly brought some joy to many families enduring hard times.
