If you live in the local area and have a baby or toddler you would be very welcome to attend the Centre's Kids Activity Time on Tuesday mornings between 10 and 11.30 am during school term times. This is an informal opportunity to meet other local parents, and grandparents, while the little ones play. Just turn up and introduce yourself.

The Glen Iris Road Uniting Church Kindergarten Open Day on Saturday 31st May between 10 am and 12 noon is an excellent opportunity to speak to the teachers and see what the kindergarten has to offer your family. The new year at Glen Iris Road Uniting Church and Community Centre has well and truly begun. The kindergarten and the many programs held in the Centre are now underway and details of these can be viewed on this website. We also extend a very warm welcome back to the Glen Iris Primary School community who share our facilities. If you are interested in exploring the possibility of running an activity here please do not hesitate to get in touch. Best wishes to the staff, program leaders and clients of Ashburton Community Centre who found a temporary home with us last year and are now enjoying their beautiful new facilities attached to the Ashburton Library.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful people who contributed items of food to our Prahran Mission Christmas hampers or who brought food and gifts for families being assisted by Camcare. A very special mention to the kindergarten families and the children of Glen Iris Primary School for their generosity. Everything has now been delivered to Prahran Mission and Camcare for distribution prior to Christmas.

During the month of November the Glen Iris Road Uniting Church is collecting Christmassy foods and non-alcoholic drinks to make up into Christmas hampers for the clients of Prahran Mission. We would be most grateful for your help. Donations can be left in the hall foyer. Unfortunately we cannot accept perishable or fragile goods, or anything that needs refrigeration. Prahran Mission assists struggling families, people in need, and those experiencing homelessness, or living with a mental illness. For further information please contact us by phone or email.

Dedication Service

The dedication of the beautiful new stained glass Welcome Window in the foyer of the Glen Iris Road Uniting Church & Community Centre will take place on Sunday, September 29th at 10 am. The window, designed and constructed by Armadale Doors & Leadlight, incorporates at its heart the small stained glass window from the Children's Chapel of the Glen Iris Presbyterian, later Uniting, Church in High Street Glen Iris.Other elements include the word 'welcome' in a variety of languages, selected biblical texts and a brief history of the Glen Iris Road Uniting Church community. The dedication will be followed by a celebratory morning tea. All welcome!

Election Day

The Glen Iris Road Uniting Church & Community Centre hall is a polling booth for the September 7th Federal election. There will be a sausage sizzle and cake/jam stall at the Centre on that day, from 9 am until sold out. Proceeds will go to the Asylum Seeker Project run by UnitingCare Lentara (formerly known as Hotham Mission) which provides support and services to the most disadvantaged people seeking asylum. At its Welcome Centre in Brunswick Lentara provides asylum seekers with information services and referrals, community dinners, and computer and English classes. Lentara also provides housing and the Basic Living Allowance to people seeking asylum who are not eligible for, or who no longer receive, Government support.

Welcome Window

After much planning the new stained glass Welcome Window has been installed in the foyer of the Glen Iris Road Uniting Church. This incorporates at its centre the small stained glass window of Jesus welcoming little children which was previously located in the Children's Chapel at our former church building in High Street Glen Iris. Created by Armadale Doors and Leadlighting, it is a lovely work of art.

Christmas in July

Would you love to celebrate Christmas without all the fuss and bother which usually goes with December 25th? Then you are very warmly invited to join the Glen Iris Road Uniting Church congregation on Sunday July 28th at 10 am for a lively and colourful Christmas service with all the trimmings.
